McCarthy Security and Medical Services are a family hands-on run company based in the Western Cape that has its own Medical Response unit and Private Intermediate Life Support Ambulance Service for backup should our clients or any of their staff need Emergency assistants.
McCarthy’s has taken the Armed Response and onsite Security Guarding Sector to a much Higher and very much in need services. We feel that one must have a Medical Response unit that is back up by a Private Ambulance Service linked up to the same burglar alarm system that is used for the Armed Response units, for all those unexpected Medical Emergency Mishaps.
McCarthy has one 24 hours Emergency Control Centre for all Medical and Security emergency, and we also believe that every Home, School and workplace should have the Medical and Armed Response linked up to same remote system.
All our onsite Security officers are trained in First Aid and CPR to perform a better duty roll in making our shopping malls and schools where our kids go to and places where we work or go on holiday a safer play for all of us, from a medical emergency for all those unexpected emergency mishaps to a security crime prevention incident for all staff, tenants and clients that make use the premises every day.
All our Armed Response officers are trained in level 3 First Aid and CPR with an approved dept of labour health and safety certificate and they are in radio contact with our control centre should they need any medical backup. This is to give you and your family, clients, and staff total peace of mind.
McCarthy’s Security and Medical Services is run and manage by the owner Mr Gary McCarthy and his 3 kids Grant-Allan and daughter Natalie. Mr McCarthy has over 37 years experience in the Security Sector and helped to start and setup one the first Armed Response Service Providers in Sea Point Cape Town back in 1987.
Gary McCarthy in her personal capacity has the following approved status and experience
- (A Grade) approved status with Private Security Industry Authority Psira
- (A) Grade Armed Response Officer.
- Special Event Security and Health & Safety Manager.
- Clean Police clearance certificate.
- Police Approved Firearm competence for a 9mm handgun.
- Police Approved Firearm competence for Shotgun.
- Dog Handlers DH1 DH2 DH3 DH4 DH5.
McCarthy Security and Medical Services is an approved registered security service provider with PSIRA- Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority on Registration No4268744.To check and verify our registration go to www.psira.co.za
All our Armed Response officers and onsite security guards are in full company uniform with the company name on their flashers and badges as per PSIRA regulation section 13. McCarthy Security and Medical Service and all the staff have been cleared by the South African Police and registered.
This same control room is used by McCarthy Call Medics an intermediate life support Private Ambulance Service that is registered with the Board of Health Care Funders of South Africa on practice number 0144533.

All McCarthy Call Medics staff is registered with the Heath Professional council of South Africa.
McCarthy Call Medics were approved in 204 by Department Labour as First Aid Training Centre for Levels 1, 2 and 3
The patient will be given basic treatment onsite by McCarthy Call Medics response units for free of charge and if there is any feather treatment needed, is back up with our own Private Ambulance. McCarthy Call medics will give all its security clients a special reduced rate for Ambulance transport, should they not have any medical aid cover.
